YouTube Joins the Hunt for Missing Children

Today YouTube launched its "Don't You Forget About Me" channel. This channel, developed in conjunction with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) and the Find Madeleine Campaign features clips of more than 25 missing children from around the world.

When you enter the channel, a clip from the president / CEO of ICMEC,
Ernie Allen, plays automatically. In the clip, he says "Use this channel. Look at these videos of real missing children. If you have information, contact the appropriate law-enforcement agencies."

Additionally, in a press release, Allen says "This new resource will provide unprecedented exposure for missing children, reaching potentially millions of viewers every day and increasing the opportunity that someone has seen them."

It's notable that this launch coincides with the 100th day since Madeleine McCann went missing. Alert readers will also note that the channel name is derived from a hit 1985 Simple Minds song, which also plays as background music on the McCann clip.
