Nintendo to End Support for NES

All good things must come to an end, and thus after 24 years, Nintendo is ending support for the original NES. The company has decided to end support due to increasingly short supplies of replacement parts. The game system was sold as the Nintendo Entertainment System in the US and Europe, and as the Famicom in Japan.

The NES launched in Japan in 1983, and in North America, Brazil, Europe, and Australia in 1985. Nintendo claims to have sold over 60 million NES units worldwide.
