Rupert Murdoch "Digs" Digg
If you perused the Wall Street Journal online today, you may have noticed something different: a Digg button. Yep, the Wall Street Journal "digs" Digg. This follows yesterday's statement by Rupert Murdoch, speaking to shareholders in Australia, that he believed an advertising-funded WSJ website could be a more successful business model.
Kevin Rose, founder of Digg, posted a tiny, tiny blurb about this last night. The key is this line:
you’ll now have full (free) access to the articles submitted to DiggFull, free access, so stories linked from Digg will be entirely readable to all, not just subscribers.
This very much aligns with Murdoch's statement, but it's also notable that there are no Reddit, Propeller, or del.icio.us buttons there. There has been a rumor floating around that Digg is close to being acquired by a "major media player;" could it be News Corp.?
And do we really want Murdoch getting his hands on something else?
