Dell Intros Thinner, Lighter Inspiron 1525
Thin is in, and today U.S. users can order the new Inspiron 1525 laptop, which according to Dell is about 25% thinner and lighter than the 1520.
Starting price is $499, though of course that'll rise quickly as you add options. Going through the order process shows a preliminary ship date of 1/24.
Feature-wise, it's pretty much the same as the 1520. The 1525 comes with a 15.4" WXGA (1280 x800) display and an integrated Intel X3100 media graphics accelerator. Of course, you can order with either a matte screen finish or the high-gloss TrueLife finish.
Starting models will come with a Celeron, but higher-end models can be outfitted with Core 2 Duo CPUs.
You'll be able to order the same eight colors as the 1520, but new will be "patterns." Available will be Chill, Street, Commotion, and Blossom. Chill is pictured above.
It also has built-in Wireless USB, a first for Dell.
Finally, Dell's offers a new "PC to PC Transfer Service." You can upload your personalized settings from your old PC to your Dell DataSafe Online Backup storage, and then download to your PC. In fact, according to Dell, they will:automatically migrate all of the content saved in your Dell DataSafe Online account, (such as photos, and digital music), to your new Dell system, along with your personalized settings.
