Internet Explorer Continues Its Slow, Downward Spiral
Internet Explorer continued to lose market share in January, continuing its downward slide. In fact, except for a 0.03% uptick from March - April 2008, its market share has continued to drop, and drop, and drop, according to market research firm Net Applications.
IE market share has dropped 10.5% since last January. Firefox has risen 26.8% in the same timeframe.
IE market share is now 67.55%, with Firefox trailing at 21.53%, and Safari at 8.29%. Looking at the above graph, you can see the steady, though slow, downward progression of IE, while Firefox has a similarly opposite upward trend.
Having recently released a 1.0 version, Google's Chrome now stands at 1.12%.
IE8's Release Candidate was recently released; it remains to be seen if that will stem the downward trend of Microsoft's browser.
