iPhone 3G S Ships

Note that magic word "ships." I didn't use the word arrives. I received an email Monday morning telling me my iPhone 3G S has shipped from Shenzhen, China (where else). Others have received similar emails.

The tracking number indicates that the device will arrive on Friday, but I can hope can't I? Probably not, realistically, as you wouldn't expect Apple to allow UPS to deliver anything before Friday. Given that, I would bet UPS is going to be extremely busy on Friday.

The iPhone 3G S has several features not in the original iPhone 3G, which is still being sold in 8GB form ($99) by AT&T. Besides the faster CPU, it has voice control, video recording, a built-in compass, PowerVR SGX graphics chip, but at least managed to maintain the same form factor, which means many (like me) won't need to trade in their cases.

The iPhone 3G S retails for $199 (16GB) or $299 (32GB), but there has been an uproar because those who bought 3Gs last year have to pay extra, as their contract is not up yet. Oh, well. That's standard practice if your contract is not up, so there is really no need to whine.

Speaking of whining, let's hope for an early delivery of my iPhone 3G S.

After months of speculation and frustration MMS for the iPhone 3G and 3G S is officially arriving on September 25, AT&T has confirmed. Good news for you :)
